Homestuck is a webcomic created by a human American male named Andrew Hussie, starting with 4 young children being chosen to play the beta of a game that is the catalyst for the world’s end. This game is known as SBURB. (Or SGRUB, on Alternia.)
Update- It is standard tradition in Homestuck culture that when Andrew Hussie publishes his next work in his hypnosis process, homestucks collectively shout “UPDATE” at the top of their lungs. Such hypnosis process is created through a webcomic that is treated like a bible of sorts.
Kids- Used in reference to the young human characters.
Troll- An alien race in the webcomic, likened to grey humans with “candy-corn-coloured” horns. They are casted by blood colours from red to purple. Such beings are potrayed to be the master race, and homestucks, who seem at first glance like normal citizens, don their god tier hoodies, zodiac shirts and Homestuck-related necklaces in the face of their troll masters.
Andrew Hussie- The name of their supposed god, a malevolent human planning to hypnotize millions to turn into his mindless slaves, destroying all they are sent after.
Canon- Genuine content, actually present inside of the webcomic itself.
Fanon- Content perceived to be genuine by the hypnotized, but is actually not.
Fantroll- Troll avatars and legends created by the hypnotized. They are a very odd menagerie, and a great amount of them conflict with the stories of Trolls.
Fanhuman- Similar to the one above, only human.
Fanfic- Some of the brainwashed who have skills in literature write their own takes on their bible, regardless of Canon’s rules.
Fansession- Similar to Fanfics, but rather than placed in novel-like format, they are also webcomics. Unlike most fanfics, Fansessions are done by multiple of the assimilated at the same time. They are pretty much collab literature.
SBURB/SGRUB: An RPG that is programmed by ~ATH, a death-oriented programming language. Rather than creating an avatar, players are literally in it themselves; Same goes with their dwelling.
Prospit and Derse: Two moons of a planet given the name Skaia in Sburb and Sgrub. One represents Illumination, while the other represents Darkness. There are dream-versions of everyone on these moons.
Prospitan/Dersite: Carapaced creatures, white if they are from prospit, black if they are from derse.
God Tier: Characters in the webcomic or fansessions that have risen to gods from their “Dream-selves” on the moons of Prospit and Derse.
Jack Noir: An antagonist in the webcomic, bearing a godlike potrayal. He rises from an archagent of Derse to an omnipotent god focused on the mindless genocide of all speces.
Midnight Crew: In the Troll Universe, Jack Noir was not intended to reach such a level. In fact, in such universe, Jack devolved to the level of Subterfuge with the rest of his colleague agents.
The Felt: Rival gang of the Midnight Crew, containing several green carapaced creatures, and the Troll Universe’s “Black Queen”. Lead by a puppet named Doc Scratch, who is simply a chrysalis for a more devastating creature
Lord English: A satanic creature that emerges from the remains of Doc Scratch once attacked by Andrew Hussie. It is able to travel time and space itself, and posesses near-unlimited power.
Ancestors: This word is used in reference to the ledgendary adult trolls, that are said to be over hundreds of Alternian Solar Sweeps (Their version of years) old.
Alternia: The home-planet of the Trolls.
Shipping: Shipping is the act of the belief (or wishful thinking) that two characters are engaged in a relationship. On occasion a disagreeable ship comes along, and the Homestuck responsible for liking the ship is ostracized.
Troll Romance: A process divided into four quadrants, namely Matespritship, Kismesissitude, Auspistice and Moirailleigance. Matespritship is the closest to human romance, while Kismesissitude is a less platonic opposite. An Auspistice is a rivalry mediated by a third party, and a moirailleigance is a set of best friends who vow to protect one another. They are signified by card-signs, hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds.
Fandom Police: A namesake for those who oppressively enforce canon. Purist is another name for them, however Fandom Police is more often used, and is generally more condescending.
